Blogmas Day 1- Winter music loves....

Helloooo!
Yes I know I haven't been posting very often but I've had a bit of a block and haven't come up with any good ideas. I'd rather publish a post I'm happy with rather than just post willy nilly(<-- Can't believe I've just said that).  So today I thought I'd share the music that I can't stop playing in these cold(or not so cold at the moment in the UK which is just wrong) winter months. There's a massive variety I've included so I'm sure there will something for every music taste.

JP Cooper- Satellite (acoustic)-appeals to more of an acoustic, almost indie feel I'm not sure what bracket he comes under.
Bear's Den- Above the Clouds of Pompeii- This is a beautiful song and an equally beautiful video. Both this song and the one above I found via the Michalaks AKA Hannah Maggs YouTube channel. God they have good music taste.
Hudson Mohawke- Chimes- Now to a very different genre. This was used in a apple mac advert and through some careful Google searching I found it. I love the beat in it and with headphones in this literally is like an eargasm (sorry about the obscenity)
Tove Lo- Habits (Stay High) REMIX- The key word in this title is 'remix'. The original in my opinion was too slow and boring I much prefer the remix of it. I actually really like the video for it as well.
Others that have a firm place on my Spotify playlist are...

  • Peace is free- Black Stone Cherry
  • Ragga bomb (ragga twins remix)- Skrillex
  • Blame-
  • Did you hear the rain- George Ezra
  • Hideaway cover by Ben howard
  • Birth- 30 Seconds to Mars
So that's kind of a wrap upof the latest music that keeps me going until Chrsitmas. I FREAKIN LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!!!
Sorry about that
See you
Jenny (I lost my signature after my laptop decided to kill its own hard drive, Thanks ASUS)

Alcohol...

Hellooo

You might be thinking this title is very strange and not normally something you see on a blog, especially one like mine but I started a blog for a reason....So I could get down my thoughts and feelings on topics, whether they be controversial or not, and not feel constricted to a certain word limit or audience, anyone can read a blog post so it's completely up to if you want to read this or not. Same goes for all of my posts.

So I'm to write today about something that has become a fundamental part in nearly everyone's life. Chances are at some point in your life you have or will come into contact with alcohol, whether it be friends family or yourself that it effects at some point I guarantee it will. Now let's just get this out there. I have no problem with drinking...you can drink whatever the hell you want (as long as it's safe of course) as far as I'm concerned at some point I know I'll be drunk so I'm not gonna rant to you about how drinking is bad and ooo bad this bad that. The issue I have is excessive drinking.

Once you get drunk you tend to find out what kind of drunk you are, for some people's benefit I will list some...

  • the sleepy drunk
  • the crying drunk
  • the silly drunk
  • the emotional drunk
  • the angry drunk
there are others but most will fall into one of these categories. Now this isn't the person's fault necessarily as when your drunk you lose your inhibitions meaning you don't really know what you're doing or what the consequences would be. Sorry I'm lecturing you. The point I'm trying to make is if you know you're for example the angry drunk who knows they'll live to regret getting pissed why drink? I know for a fact I wold be a loud mouth, probably offensive angry drunk which is why I know my limit and when to stop as I think I don't want to wake up tomorrow and have someone hate me because I said they were this that and the next thing.

I would also like to make one other point... FRIENDSHIP IS NOT DEFINED BY DRINKING. If you have real friends you should be able to have as much with them drunk as when they're sober, if you get drunk with your 'friends' to be friends then what kind of relationship is that. <<< How many time do you want to say friends Jen?!

This post is for mainly my benefit, just so I can get out there my opinions on alcohol I feel for anyone suffering at the hands of alcohol abuse and if I cold give one piece of advice i would be this. More many you feel most at ease or relaxed or free when your drunk, it becomes your fuel... you think drink defines who you are, well I can tell you drunk you is the weak vulnerable person just like everyone else when they're drunk; everyone is susceptible to something, but I can tell you now sober you is twice as strong the drunk you will ever be.

Lots of love and stay safe

♥Nail Besties ♥

Hellooo!

Crazy I know two posts in one week, I promise I will get some sort of routine. Even if it takes a long LONG time. Today I thought I'd share the nail polishes that I've been loving recently, some I've loved for a while now but some are recent purchases.

Left- Fearne nail polish in Lady Grey- This is such a pretty colour it's metallic so in some lights it looks pearly/silver but in some lights it looks gold. This is such an amazing polish however it chips pretty easily so if you like long lasting formula this isn't the one.
Middle- BarryM in pink flamingo- this is a polish I've been wearing LOADS. I love this corally pink colour plus BarryM polishes last a long time.
Right- Topshop in AWOL- This colour is AMAZING if you have long nails or if you have fake nails, but if you have stubby nails like me it still looks nice, the blue is so vivid and I love it.

Left- Ciaté quick dry top coat- this has saved me so much time now, it is literally the best purchase I have ever made. It dries really quickly with a lovely shine!
Right- O.P.I Nail Envy- Because my nails are so thin I decided I needed something really effective and this has really helped I apply two coats and then another every other day and it has made my nails a lot stronger. It's also made them much less flaky as well. All round good product really.

Well that's it,  round up of my favourite polishes I might make a regular thing because I go through so many phases where I like certain polishes.

Benefit minis review...

helloo

so I haven't posted in a while, like 2 months a while. Yeah sorry about that. I'm sure virtually no one reads this blog but like whatever I might as well explain why. I've just started college and I just haven't had the time with college homework filing through EVERY DAY (seriously i hate homework)
yep pretty much.
so I've finally set aside time to do a post and hopefully there will be a few more throughout the month.

About a month ago I received a Benefit mini make up box courtesy off my gorgeous cousin Emma for my birthday in July, it's taken me this long to review because I wanted to get a proper go of the products before I gave my verdict. Just in case you were wondering it was the 'Do the Bright Thing' kit.

As you can see its layout is very pretty and Benefit being the helpful souls that they are have labelled them from 1-5 in order in which you apply them. Aw their lovely aren't they?! In all seriousness it is really helpful if you don't really know what to do with them, and just in case that isn't enough it comes with instructions on where and how to apply them.

"that gal" brightening primer- apply before make up, very nice texture on the skin, not too greasy.
♥/5
Dandelion blush- I freaking love this blush it looks so pretty and naturally glowy and the brush is actually really soft (however I still don't apply it with the brush).
♥/5
High Beam- I've wanted to try this for ages and I'm so glad I did. It makes me look so much more perky and alive. It's such a shimmery nice colour and I imagine it would suit loads of different people.
  ♥/5
They're real mascara- Now I've seen SO much attention from this so I was really excited to try it. However I felt although it was good it didnt give me very much volume which is really important for me however it did give me good length.
 ♥/5

Finally... waterproof eye liner- I've not really had a chance to try it but it seems really soft unlike some that I've used.
♥/5
Well there you have a run down of the Benefit minis... All in all I think Benefit cosmetics are really good just with the quality and how long they last so far I haven't ran out of any of them and some of them I've used for months.

Madeira Cake Recipe...

Helloooo!

So I thought I'd try something a little different today and do a baking post. I have recently started to bake a lot more as I seem to have a lot more spare time on my hands, I decided this would be a chance to share with the blogisphere one of the recipes I've been baking recently. For those who don't know what a Madeira cake is, it's basically a normally fluffy sponge with a hint of lemon, it's kind of a hybrid of a normal sponge cake and a lemon drizzle cake.

TO START YOU'LL NEED:
  • 175g/6oz unsalted butter (normal butter is fine though)
  • 175g/6oz caster sugar
  • 3 large eggs beaten
  • 115/4oz self raising flour
  • 115g/4oz plain flour
  • 2-3 tbsp milk (or brandy if you've had a long day)
  • the finely grated rind of 1 lemon

  1. You'll need to preheat your oven to 160oC/ 325oF, if you have a gas oven it'll be gas mark 3. Also You need to grease a tin with a diameter of about 7 inches (it's fairly easy to get your hands on one). Also preferably it needs to be fairly deep as well.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together until they are fluffy. Then add the lemon rind (btw this is a pain in the arse to grate so you may want to prepare your rind before this step. Mix it all together.
  3. Now add your beaten eggs GRADUALLY. You then add the flours. you can sift them if you want it just means the mixture is a bit less lumpy.
  4. Now the fun part. Carefully spoon the mixture into the case without getting it all over your kitchen and smooth it over if you want to make it look especially pretty.
  5. Bake in your preheated oven for 1- 1 1/4 hours it should be a well risen, golden lovely sponge.
  6. leave to cool or if you're my brother eat it while you get the camera to take photos.

So there you have it my Madeira cake recipe. I hope anyone reading this was inspired to bake this little lovely, it really is quite tasty.
Lots of cake covered hugs

Just a wee haul...

Hellooooo!

So I'll give you a little update I had my prom which was fun, mainly to look at some of the dresses I mean what possessed some people to buy their dresses I do not know! It was a lovely night to see everyone looking gorgeous (even if the dresses were well strange). Also recently it was my birthday meaning some shopping was needing to be done and my wardrobe was needing a serious update from jumpers. These have accumulated over a few weeks and disclaimer of course I am not bragging about what I bought I just thought people may what to see what I've bought and hopefully be inspired and maybe get one of the items themselves!

Yes I bought in to the jelly shoe craze these are from New Look and I think were around £10. These are kind of a transparent colour with sparkles in them. They are actually REALLY comfy as well!

This Kimono is also from New Look I love the pattern and it looks so cute and elegant. I think it was £25 correct me if 'm wrong.

Next is a wide shirt I got from Tesco I wasn't expecting to find something like this in tesco of all places ( I do apologise it isn't ironed) it is striped as you can see from the close up photo.
Topshop nail polish in the colour Awol £5
Topshop set of rings and midi rings in gold and silver £3.50 (they were in the sale!!)

I got these shorts in the sale at house of fraser they're from the H! by Henry Holland range which I've discovered I really like. They were £11. I'm not sure what I'll wear them with but I'm sure I'll find something.

Last thing I promise.I found these leggings also in the H! by HenryHolland range they have little velvet flowers on them which makes them look so cute and girly, they are also very comfy. £18.
Well that's it all the stuff I've bought over the past few weeks,I hope you're having a lovely summer ( or winter in some cases)

Lots of love

Add caption
So I thought since I have lot of free time I would share with you guys things that get me in the summer mood...
HERE WE GO!

NAILS
Starting from far left- BarryM Gelly in pomegranate (looks very pink but comes out a raspberry red on the nails) next is the BarryM Gelly in Guava (one of the new shades, a teal green colour, good for if you don't ant to go full on green). Middle is the BarryM Gelly in Greenberry (bright turquoise shade perfect with a a capital P for summer). After is the BarryM in Huckleberry (again new shade a typical mint colour very flattering on the hands I feel.) Lastly is the Claire's nail polish (colour unknown but is the most perfect wearable shade)
^Can you tell I have a slight obsession with BarryM nail polishes^

LIPS

Left- revlon lip butter in sorbet. Right- Accessorize lip crayon in keeping it cool.
Swatch of Revlon lip butter
Swatch of Accessorize lip crayon

JEWELRY

Necklace- spanish market (sorry don't know the price of it and it's not readily available) Rings- Topshop

the reason they are at different level is because they are a small medium and large (which I didn't realise)so my fat fingers can get the other two right down so they double as midi rings)

MUSIC

The River by Sam Garrett.
Heart and Soul-Twin Atlantic
